Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterized by excessive sweating that can affect the hands, axilla, groin, and feet. This can cause significant discomfort and emotional stress in some patients. Initial Treatment for hyperhydrosis is usually medical management with aggressive use of anti-perspirants, iontophoresis, and botox injections which may offer temporary relief.

After careful evaluation, those patients who fail conservative measures may consider endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy (ETS) which is performed with VATS/thorascopic approach. Patients are made aware of the risks of surgery and potential side effects during their consultation.

At North Jersey Thoracic Surgical Associates, we have performed ETS since 2004. These operations are done on a same-day, outpatient surgery basis with overall excellent results.
